The exclusive Italian headquarters of the SWAROVSKI OPTIC CAMPEX Italy at the Agriturismo Le Casellacce in Montese (MO) on the Modena Apennines was, from 19 to 21 July 2024, the stage of the first edition in Italy of the BERGARA ACADEMY.
The idea was born from the will of the Spanish company, distributed in Italy by Redolfi Armi, to take the concept of rifle shooting to the next level, creating the conditions for the birth of a new generation of shooters and hunters, aware and with a deep knowledge of the tools at their disposal.
With this philosophy, the brand was identified Kahles, hunting and shooting optics company of the Swarovski Optik group, the right interlocutor to promote this movement and together they thus inaugurated the first Italian edition of the Bergara Academy. The term “was specifically usedAcademy” precisely to underline the high level of knowledge in the field of weapons and shooting techniques.
Three intense days, during which qualified instructors, coordinated by Bergara team leader Giovanni Di Giulio, ballistics experts and aiming systems technicians from Kahles, have addressed in detail all the fundamental aspects that must be clear when handling a weapon, both in terms of safety and awareness. Shooting is not simply pulling a trigger, but is evaluating all those variables that can influence a perfect shot, whether you go hunting or frequent a shooting range.
Today more than in the past, when talking about rifles, you cannot ignore the aiming system, be it traditional, night or thermal. Also in this case, knowing the characteristics and the adjustment methods becomes a priority and, in this academy, a significant part was played by the sessions dedicated to optical instruments that were analyzed in detail.
It was interesting to follow the work that, alternating theoretical phases with field exercises, offered the possibility for comparison, for exchanging impressions, for asking questions or clarifying doubts. In the space of a few hours, the atmosphere that could be felt was one of great complicity and harmony, both among participants and with the instructors.
The course was attended by a large and diverse number of people, both in terms of age and geographical origin. It is nice to see how, in these initiatives, there are more and more young people, at their first experiences, who want to be prepared and aware of what they are doing, to face a shooting session safely, both hunting and at the shooting range. It was touching to see how father and son found in a common passion, an even stronger understanding, sharing unique emotions and complicity. There was also the presence of two people who live abroad, in Austria and Africa, who took advantage of the academy opportunity to refine their experience and acquire a wealth of information that they will bring into their future hunting experiences.
At the end of the course, what appeared most evident among the participants was the surprise and satisfaction of having an immediate perception of the improvements and verifying the notable change between "before and after" the in-depth sessions.
