Confagricoltura has released a note to inform about an initiative concerning the farmers in the province of Biella. The association contacted the province itself and the Piedmont Region directly to solicit appropriate measures both from a preventive point of view and from that of compensation. The aim of the reminder is to solve once and for all the problem of damage caused by wild boars to crops, given that they have reached worrying levels.
We are talking about a collection of signatures, so that they can be sent to the bodies that deal with this matter, not just the Region and the Province. In fact, the intervention of Confagricoltura has as interlocutors the mayors of two municipalities, that of Massazza and that of Villanova Biellese, without forgetting the Management Body of the Barraggia Park. The Vercelli and Biella section of the confederation promoted the collection. The damage caused by ungulates is a serious reality in many parts of Italy and the Biella area is certainly no exception.
This is why we try in every way to sensitize those interested in the problem. However, it should be remembered that just three weeks ago Confagricoltura itself had invited a report to the relevant bodies, but there was never a response. The hope is that more efforts will be made to protect the work of the agricultural sector, given that every year the fields are destroyed and the crops are strongly affected by the presence of wild boars. One idea could be to reduce park areas, keeping road traffic under control to avoid accidents.
