Dobbiaco for us is not just around the corner, but the passion for those territories and for the town itself were an invitation to participate in the race called Blaser Alpen Cup, a competition conceived by Flavio Formis together with Claudia Gambaretto, and masterfully organized by the management of the city shooting range: the President Franco Negri together with many willing members of the National Shooting Section of Dobbiaco took charge of the running of the competition by lending their work on a gracious basis. The commitment was neither light nor comfortable considering the duration of two full days and a late climate with the schedule for which moments of low temperature and many, repeated downpours of pouring rain made it difficult to carry out the work. A special thanks is really due with gratitude and appreciation.
Returning to the competition, the dominant thought was to collect as many shooters as possible by simulating the roe deer shooting in its three most usual forms, to put everyone on an equal footing with the obligation to use Blaser weapons, optics of your choice, but it is known that local hunters and many of those agreed, allocate their preferences on a few well-selected brands. Significant sponsorships were found starting with Jawag, distributor in Italy of the German company, continuing on Forest Italia distributor of Leica Sport Optics and Maserin Cutlery, then Fiocchi for ammunition, Shothunt for electronic earplugs and many different realities that have entrusted to this event the task of making its business further known. A kind availability of some Blaser rifles, R93 carbines or K95 kipplaufs with the Leica Magnus 2,4-16 × 56 and Fiocchi cartridges with Match King bullet, would appeal to those without the appropriate equipment: a useful and profitable review of the functionality of the three elements in play and the dexterity necessary to hit the right point of the image of the wild.
In fact, the circular insignia with the scores is placed on the back of the sign and cannot be seen: it is known that the center corresponds to the physiologically exact point where to place the ball, but the uncertainty of defining it on the animal's fur remains all, just like hunting. Series of three shots were fired in as many positions: standing, target at 80 m, leaning the weapon against a wooden sleeper, simulating the edge of a window in the roof terrace, secondly lying down, front support on cushions to simulate a backpack and a distance of 150 m, finally seated with support as above and roe deer at 200 m. At the end of the two days, 110 shooters took part and many took advantage of the possibility of returning to continue the fun and the chances of success.
The victory went to Otto Platzer with 94,9 points who thus took home the Blaser Trophy cup, the only prize awarded to the ranking: all other prizes including a Blaser rifle, Leica optics, Maserin knives, wild in the reserves of the area, stays and many other beautiful things were given by drawing lots, to equalize the possibilities of all in a shooting party with a particular value that can be summed up in a gesture. The sum of € 4.000,00 raised with the registrations was entirely donated to charity.
I find this Alpen Blaser Cup very beautiful.
