La Blaser R 93 air rifle it is certainly a staple of Blaser's production, we would say the one in which the knowledge of the company has thickened with its special intuitions in terms of arms design and execution. Leaving aside the classic canons, the designers of the House of Isny have added together several characteristics that over the course of a few years, not everyone immediately realizes certain things, have put in the hands of hunters a rifle with peculiarities that today are more sought after and well exploited. . We are therefore talking about the lightness combined with compact dimensions, with the same barrel length, of the repetition system with in-line movement, an old idea exploited by the military and today totally revised in its setting, of the trigger package that is activated voluntarily only at the moment. of the shot with excellent safety in transfers, of a setting of the stock, beautiful for the woods, but above all appreciated for the easy acquisition of the shooting posture and for the control that occurs in the outcome of the same. Finally, we emphasize the always exciting shooting accuracy. There is the price that is not exactly popular, but the numbers sold in recent years indicate that the hunter spends without much hesitation for the results.
The technical approach
First of all, it should be noted that the junction between barrel and bolt is direct with the barrel fixed by two pilierini integral with the cartridge chamber and internally threaded in which two Allen screws are screwed after passing through the stock in front of the guard. The barrel is obtained by roto-hammering and finished externally with the 11 ° conical drop of the muzzle to protect the egress of the lines and minimize the effect of the muzzle blow on the bullet, while inside the breech a drop ring represents the attachment point for the locking system. The bolt assembly has a lower support with two sliding guides inserted in the appropriate seat of the frame, the carriage with linear movement only, the locking head, the external fairing where the handlebar is inserted on the right side and the rear protrudes battery cocking button. The front part of the shutter sees the cylindrical head with a lowered face with a substantial milling in which the extractor block slides orthogonally, held in register by a wire spring: a robust and functional solution flanked by the elastic expulsion pawl. Behind the head there is a harmonic steel cylinder carved for 4/5 of its length so as to obtain twelve elastic blades, joined in the common base of the cylinder and each ending with a tooth with a slightly inclined profile. Let's now observe the handlebar, hinged in the side and equipped with a pendular motion, thanks to which the forward movement and the stop in closing of the rear assembly is guaranteed: the movement pushes a strut into the slats which, thanks to the conical profile, puts them in expansion by constraining the teeth within the circular crown groove milled in the breech of the barrel. The total contrast surface is remarkable and the rearmament is also very fast, moving the weapon minimally from the line of sight. This bond between the bolt and the barrel leaves the castle very little effort to make so that it is made of ergal for greater lightness. It should also be added that a lever allows the easy release of the head as well as the two Allen screws the removal of the barrel: within homogeneous groups of cartridges the caliber is therefore replaceable with obvious advantages especially for hunting trips.
Battery
La Blaser has adopted a manual battery armament system, disconnected from the handlebar drive and from the cartridge chamber: this detail has led to a choice that many manufacturers have subsequently followed for their weapons considering what safety is determined: walking with the cartridge in the chamber and the battery spring extended with the firing pin locked. A pressure on the slide button and the battery is armed so you can shoot with a pressure on the trigger of less than 800 g, sharp, clean without the slightest smudging: or the shot is postponed and a further light pressure on the button is sufficient to disarm the battery. On the other hand, if you operate the handlebar after a shot or to change the cartridge, the battery remains armed: it is good to pay close attention to not restarting in this condition.
The stock
The choice of walnut of a certain level adequately dresses the weapons of the House of Isny proposed with this solution, alternatively we find synthetic stocks where resistance is favored at the expense of aesthetics. The shapes follow regular lines with a straight and thick back, an arched pistol with a metal guard on which stands a pair of roe deer, a high nose piece while the wide section shaft allows both the support on the backpack and the bracing shot. : the apex a beak appropriately recalls the origins of the weapon. The strap holder shirts are provided together with the rubber butt plate.
The considerations
There are many important peculiarities of the Blaser R 93 from which the consequences to the benefit of the user are highlighted: lightness of the system so as to give the rod a slightly larger section than the norm to the advantage of accuracy, while maintaining very comfortable weight values especially for the mountains; arming system that does without the stecher and safety while maintaining an optimal release weight; very quick caliber change; optics fixed with the special saddle attachment equipped with four attachment points to the breech of the barrel, optimal even with high recoil calibers and with guaranteed repositioning of the telescope after disassembly. The success of these rifles is still demonstrated by the small second-hand market, where not many pieces that arrive, whoever has them keeps them, always maintain a fairly high price.
