On our territory, various live native and non-native fauna species which are creating various and numerous logistical and economic problems; for this reason, these animals are subject to specific control plans approved by the Regional Council and implemented by the Provincial Police (or by the Metropolitan city) in coordination and collaboration with specifically trained assistants belonging to the hunting world. Among the aforementioned species, the Otter or Myocastor coypus as correctly declined, is between the most harmful; its burrows, first of all, produce excavation of the embankments with consequent subsidence of the embankment of the many reclamation channels that run through the territory of the "low" with an important restoration cost for the Management consortia of the same, these dens then, if dug into the hanging banks of rivers and streams, are among the main causes of flooding.
Another serious problem caused by these rodents is the damage to agriculture: the crops of corn, sugar beet, wheat, and more, represent for them a real delicacy and near their burrows they reduce these crops to almost zero. For this reason I am extremely satisfied to have been able to stipulate, with the Consorzio della Bonifica Burana, an experimental agreement to develop a technical-economic methodology as close as possible to the needs; an effective collaboration between said consortium and the hunting world in order to make the control plans as effective as possible; I am aware that I have not done anything new because this agreement is already in place in other provinces but in our territory we had not yet developed such conditions.
I found in Dr. Carla Zampighi and Dr. Elena Fanti, territorial managers of Burana, two really attentive and prepared interlocutors, with a great ability to summarize the problems, thanks to them and the effective contribution of ATC BO1 in people of the President Hendrik Hagedorn and his deputy Giuliano Maini, today we have this agreement which provides for a contribution to the expenses necessary to carry out the aforementioned control plans, the assistants, supported by the local police of the Metropolitan City, can now plan a greater number of interventions without having to sustain important personal costs as this activity requires. In the hope that this agreement will become truly profitable for the Consortium and that it can also be extended to other areas of the Metropolitan city affected by similar problems, even if managed by several land reclamation consortia.
This agreement is added to the one already in place with the Municipality of San Giovanni in Persiceto, but also concerning other species subject to control (as established by the Region) whose redundancy, it creates dangerous situations for the territory, such as foxes, pigeons and corvids. The hunting world proves, once again, close to the needs and care of the territory, the countryside and the interests of citizens by making available all possible human and economic resources for socially useful purposes (Ivan Malaguti - President pro tempore Section Federcaccia San Matteo della Decima - Bologna).
