Wild boars spare nothing at all, not even historical places. An emblematic case is that which emerged in the last few hours: a herd of ungulates literally invaded the Vittoriale, the complex of buildings, streets, squares, gardens and waterways erected between 1921 and 1938 in Gardone Riviera (Brescia) by Gabriele D'Annunzio designed by the architect Giancarlo Maroni.
The discovery was made by Lucio Ceresa, secretary of the "Garda Community". The wild would be at least 16 and the same herd then headed to the public gardens that are located in front of the town hall, therefore in the center. Local authorities were promptly informed. Here is what Viviana Beccalossi, councilor of the Mixed Group in the Lombardy Region said about it: "This is the symbol of the damage that environmentalism and facade animalism can do, which are unable to distinguish the sacrosanct protection of animals from the serious damage that invasive species can cause.
I am sure that the commissioner Rolfi will be able to respond promptly to the request for help that, beyond the episode concerning the Vittoriale, comes from mayors and farmers in several parts of the province. Much has been done with the selection hunt introduced by the Region, but evidently the problem is still far from being resolved ”.
Will they have gone to pay homage to the VATE?
