Browning B725: The recent Browning over-and-under inherits from the legendary B25 the fundamental qualities with updates and innovations for an even more focused and satisfying performance.
di Emmanuel Tabasso
Il over / under B725 shows what the design abilities of the Herstal company are where the continuation of the B25, one of the four superimposed ones that have made and still teach, collects a demanding legacy and not only maintains it, but refines some prerogatives. The robustness and resistance to use have been magnified over many years and many successes on platforms all over the world and equally on the most disparate hunting grounds: the project of the Twenties in which Val Browning, son of John Moses, sees the deep U rocker, the pivot pin and the tenons placed under the lower barrel; the locking piece is placed just above the pin, therefore with a slight disadvantage especially in the lever arm of the upper barrel. This is supported by the large surfaces of the sides of the breech of the barrels and of the walls of the receiver, with the connection very high towards the head, so as to avoid lateral deviations. The through tenons work on the thickness of the back counteracting the forward projection of the rods together with the inclined surfaces obtained in the table and in the planes, freeing the pin from undue work.
This is the basis on which we worked to obtain the B725 built on an integral action frame, also in steel, with a low profile by acting on the head, on the key insertion point and on the sides; equally reduced the measure between the lower closing block and the axis of the upper barrel. Writing about it is simple, but implementing a similar revolution on an established project is a difficult and highly appreciable practice. The trigger system with mechanical single trigger has also been completely modified, so there is always at least one shot available, even after a failed first barrel fire or the opening of the weapon. The action of the device should be observed, faster than the inertial one thanks to the work on the geometry of the couplings between levers and hammers: the stroke between the trigger and the release lever and between the latter and the hammer with the hammer has been reduced. useful insertion of a bearing that stops the retraction of the trigger at the moment of separation from the hooking tooth on the hammer.
Barrels and chokes
Studies and experimentation on barrels and chokes have led to the creation of what is called the VectorPro ™ - Back Bored - Invector DS ™ system, of which these characteristics stand out: cartridge chamber with a section of 20,3 mm, cone length 32 mm with gradual slope up to the start of the rod with its section of 18,8 mm; finally we find the seat of the choke 80 mm long. The alchemies have indicated these values as optimal as a function of lead or steel shot, with limiting the water hammer, the rubbing of the bullets inside the barrel and with higher exit speed. The same experimental and practical determination led to the definition for chokes with a length of 80 mm, their particular internal profile and the gradient of connection with the barrel core: the addition of a brass snap ring at the rear apex guarantees perfect stability in the seat, stops a large part of the infiltration of the burnt gases thus favoring their unscrewing. The result can be read in the well-distributed shot patterns, high speed, reduction of the recoil sensation also ensured by the Inflex II butt plate with energy-absorbing cells and structure that when fired, detaches the back of the stock from the shooter's face for a moment, canceling the transmission. of vibrations. Everything is aimed at concentrating and keeping the rifle in line to fire the second shot in a very short time and with safe aiming. A note on the two proposed barrel lengths, 76 and 81 cm (30 and 32 "), which favor the combustion of even very progressive powders, balance the weapon and increase the distance between the eye and the front sight for maximum engagement accuracy of the target.

The stock and the considerations
A walnut qualified as American Grade 5/6 sanded and oil-polished is used for the two parts of the stock. In addition to the adjustable back, hence the qualification of Adjustable, very comfortable to bring the face and eye to perfect height with the rib, we note the pistol grip with Swelle palm, a length of 375 mm, the shaped temple for a very good grip. firm in swing and ending with the tulipe profile. The medium-fine checkering prevents slipping even with wet hands.
Once again Browning puts on the market a very specific shotgun for shooting from the platform and this choice focuses on Sporting, a recent practice that has seen shooters and hunters who love a competition that refines their skills and allows significant improvements under its aegis. also in hunting performance, and practiced with a speargun like this B725 is very satisfying: the beautiful, functional and intelligent solutions not only break a few more targets, but thrill those who use them.
