The note from the ACMA
The ACMA (Association of Aquatic Migratory Hunters) has recently released the following note: "A hunter during a day of snipe hunting he was lucky enough to shoot down a specimen of snipe still equipped with the satellite transmitter equipped by us in 2021. More unique than rare event considering the amount of snipe available in nature! First of all, we thank him for contacting us and returning the satellite from which we hope to be able to download useful information, potentially left in memory".
Satellite transmitters
“In fact, let us remember that these transmitters are not solar-recharged, but battery-powered and after a few months they no longer work, in any case they could have imagined information, but did not have enough charged battery to send it to the satellite. This recovery testifies to the fact that the satellite transmitters do not cause much disturbance and that this specific snipe managed to make 4 complete migrations with the "backpack" on its shoulders".
The recovery of the snipe
“Another piece of information that is potentially given to us is the loyalty of the place, in fact the snipe was recovered in Tuscany not very far from where it was marked two seasons ago. Hunting and nature never cease to amaze us! In the duck's beak to everyone for the season that isn't over yet”.
