Hunting: Marche, the Cardogna regional councilor proposes a referendum to abolish hunting in the region, "It is only a playful activity, it is absolutely not true that it is an important element of wildlife management".
The Regional Councilor of the Greens, Adriano Cardogna, proposes the abolition of hunting with a referendum. In the Piceno the subject is very delicate, because the hunting activity in these areas extends from the mountainous and hilly areas to those closest to the coast. Wild fauna proliferates luxuriantly, not only in natural parks, sparking the debate between those who would like to resort to hunting to regulate its spread and those who are opposed to this brutal solution. Adriano Cardogna, regional councilor of the Greens, spoke on the subject of hunting and its condition in the Marche. "Today I had the umpteenth proof that hunting in the Marche is only a recreational activity whose rules are dictated by some lobbies of hunters and it is absolutely not true what they would have us believe, that is, that it is an important element of wildlife management with hunters who play an irreplaceable role of control over redundant species harmful to agriculture ". So the leader of the Greens Adriano Cardogna enters with a straight leg on the subject by proposing a referendum for its abolition after yet another farce that has seen the regional council postpone again the opening of the boar hunt. It would seem irrelevant but it is not.
“The damage caused to agriculture in our region has reached intolerable dimensions, we are talking about a few million euros, while another 2 million euros are needed for damage resulting from road accidents. In a panorama of this type - continues Cardogna - even a Green thinks that hunting is necessary to reduce the number of wild boars, and what are the councilors and councilors doing instead? At the request of the lobby, crews of harnesses postpone the opening of the boar hunt! It is simply not possible to understand the logic of this choice, especially if we consider that hunting for species on the verge of extinction, such as the rock partridge, is not prohibited in our region ”.
"The real reason for the postponement is due to the fact that the harnesses must first devote themselves to hunting other species and the simultaneous boar hunt would be a hindrance, so the postponement allows them to devote themselves first to the shooting of sedentary fauna, then of wood pigeons and only after some wild boars, which in the meantime destroyed crops and caused road accidents. Where do the rights of citizens and farmers go? Inside the hunters' saddlebags ".
"After countless attempts made in recent years by the Greens in the Region to try to evolve the hunting activity in the Marches rejected in the Commissions or in the Assembly, given this umpteenth proof of political obtuseness, the Greens are forced to wage a battle for the abolition of hunting. Once abolished, the problem of numerical control of the surplus species can be managed by the Provinces and the State Forestry Corps ".
