“It is with partial satisfaction that we learn of the decision of the Tar with regard to the appeal presented by the protectionist and anti-hunt associations against the Calabrian hunting calendar. For the quail the technical reasons presented by the Regional Advocacy, by the Competent offices, from our Research Department and the legal arguments of the lawyer Alberto Maria Bruni, whom I thank for the usual resolutive commitment ”. Thus the regional president Federcaccia Calabria and national vice president Giuseppe Giordano comments on today's ruling of the Regional Administrative Court for Calabria on the appeal number of the general register 1409 of 2021 which concerned dove, lapwing and quail and on which the Italian Hunting Federation intervened ad opposendum.
While for turtledove and lapwing the order of the TAR recognizes the validity of the objections presented by the applicants, postponing the decision to the public hearing of 16 February 2022, for the quail it rejected the precautionary request for suspension. This is an important pronouncement because it legitimizes the opening of the wandering hunt on the third Sunday of September, when ISPRA and environmental associations have been requesting for 11 years an unjustified postponement to 1 October, in addition to having recognized the validity of the scientific data presented by the Calabria Region and Federcaccia in support of a favorable status of the species in Europe and Calabria, as well as the uselessness of SPEC classification.
"To obtain results, enthusiasm and the desire to do is not enough, but it is necessary to build solid foundations over time for the arguments presented in support of one's requests - concluded President Giordano - Federcaccia was the first to take this path and it will continue to invest in this ". A strong thanks to the Calabria Region for having supported the positions and for having collaborated with Federcaccia for the deviation from the opinion ISPRA (Source: Hunting Federation).
