The reform of the CAP and wildlife management, were the central topics of a recent conference promoted byAccademia dei Georgofili and the National Federcaccia. Last November 11 in the headquarters of the prestigious Georgofili Academy interventions by authoritative speakers focused on the future relationship linked to the prospects of sustainability with the European Green Deal and the interconnections between agricultural activity and wildlife.
Among the various aspects, the question of how the agricultural land management, aimed at the production of value, but also attentive to environmental enhancement, can assume a fundamental role for creation of suitable environments to host and increase the presence of fauna species of significant importance, currently in decline or severely threatened by practices that determine strong reductions in favorable habitats to conservation. The conservation of biodiversity is a priority of the Green Deal and of the ecological transition envisaged by the National Government.
At the same time, it is not enough to evoke the word biodiversity to identify specifically the results you want to achieve. According to the report on the EU Nature Directives, one of the main problems of environmental conservation is represented by intensive agriculture, and this is confirmed by the fact that the bird species present in agricultural ecosystems, are today those in greatest decline. In these territories, therefore, more than elsewhere, there is an urgent need to guarantee environmental restoration actions.
The hunting world can and must play an active role in this direction. Hunting interest can generate resources, favoring or contributing to transform agricultural yields into increased biodiversity. The role of hunters can therefore prove decisive for the general interest and for the contribution to the conservation of ecosystems at risk.
