La Provincial Federcaccia of Bergamo made an important appeal. One was shot down on 23 December Cesena equipped with GPS in Zogno, a town located in the lower Brembana Valley. The responsible hunter alerted immediately after the University as required by the protocol in this case, but did not leave any contact details to be tracked.
For this reason, the hunting association asked anyone who had heard of the matter to contact this person, who must return the GPS itself to the Ornithological Station of the Passata di Zogno. The device would then eventually be fine-tuned and used again. The “Cesena Project” has entered its second year of life. It is a unique study in the whole European continent, conducted by the University of Milan and funded by Federcaccia Lombardy.
The goal is to better understand the migration of the Cesene arriving in Lombardy, their movements in the winter period, the restart for the nesting places and the discovery of the areas of origin. Last year the results were satisfactory and the spring migration of 4 Cesene was traced (along a route of over 2 thousand kilometers from Lombardy to Russia and Finland).
