A turbulent discussion
The changes introduced to the regional law on hunting are causing unrest at the Abruzzo hunting world and clutches inside in the majority. Specifically, during the last council held in Pescara, on the initiative of the center-right of Abruzzo, changes to the reference standard were approved which profoundly distort the criteria for representing hunters' associations within the management committees of the Atc (Territorial Areas of Hunting). This rule has also generated appeals to the TAR promoted by hunting associations precisely to protect their rights. The regional councilor of the Democratic Party Dino Pepe intervened on the case.
The last regional council
“We are faced” highlighted Pepe, “with deep divisions in the majority which are generating chaos and confusion also in the regional bureaucratic apparatus in the application of the amendment to the law. An authentic interpretation that penalizes most of the members of the various hunting associations. During the last regional council, the leader of the Lega, Vincenzo D'Incecco, together with his party colleague Sabrina Bocchino and Massimo Verrecchia, current leader of the Brothers of Italy, notoriously the closest adviser to President Marsilio, had proposed to put remedy this gross blunder by filing an amendment to repeal what has been called a 'fraud law'. This initiative did not receive the necessary consensus among the ranks of the majority, so much so that the proposer himself was forced to give more lenient advice, agreeing to move the discussion to the commission, to better investigate the case, also by listening to the representatives of the hunters themselves.
Possible suspension
On 16 May, the commission gave an almost unanimous opinion in the direction of canceling this provision. With this in mind: the president Emiliano Di Matteo has forwarded an official letter to the vice president Imprudente formally requesting the commitment not to proceed with the appointments within the management committees and to wait for the ruling of the Tar which set the date for 7 June for the possible suspension, in addition the parent company of the D'Incecco League has promised to re-propose the amendment to cancel the rule. The first promise has already been disregarded as President Marsilio issued the decree appointing the management committee of the L'Aquila ATC on the proposal of the councilor Imprudente. For the second we are waiting for the Lega and the Brothers of Italy to test the facts of the regional council already convened for tomorrow. That will be the place" concluded Pepe sarcastically "to assess whether the center-right intends to keep the commitments made or whether D'Incecco and Verrechia intend to continue shooting, it is precisely the case to say so only 'blanks' without producing any resolving effect on the problematic. As far as we are concerned, we are ready to cancel this rule. As already specified in the commission, we admit that at the time of its approval we made an oversight that we are ready to recover" (source: Abruzzo Region)
