It is the feast of St. Hubert, patron saint of hunters, which will be held in Laconi - around the “Su Dominariu” park - next weekend. The event - now in its second edition under the aegis of the Sardinia Hunters Union and in collaboration with the Region, pro loco of Laconi and Monastir, Sardegna Foreste and Forestry Corps and environmental surveillance. The prologue will be marked by shooting competitions, in the countryside in Corongiu Era, throughout the day on Saturday. The event will go live on Sunday morning with the gathering of hunters in the oasis around the center of Sarcidano. A large participation of enthusiasts is expected, with hunting uniforms, and a large representation of families.
At 9.30 there will be a round table on the theme “A new legislation on hunting and the management of the environment and regenerable resources. Moral duty towards future generations ”. The work will be coordinated by Modesto Fenu, who presented the bill to bring order to the sector. Participants will be the president of the Region Francesco Pigliaru, the regional councilors for the defense of the environment, public works, health and local authorities Donatella Spano, Paolo Maninchedda, Luigi Arru and Cristiano Erriu, Antonio Casula (head of the Forestry Authority), the president of Coldiretti Giambattista Cualbu, Andrea Cortis (Sardinian gunsmiths association) and the head of UCS Bonifacio Cuccu. Inside the location there will be several stands that will host exhibitions on ancient and modern weapons, an exhibition of Sardinian knives and Neolithic reproduction of the master Giuseppe Cabras, stands on experimental archaeological activity (from ceramics to metals up to jewels) , exhibits on wildlife and island handicrafts. There are guided tours for children and families.
At 11.30 the celebration of the solemn mass presided by Archbishop Arrigo Miglio is scheduled, accompanied by the chants of the Laconi choir, with the recitation of the hunters' prayer and the blessing of dogs and guns. At 13.30 pm there will be lunch with the tasting of local products of the island tradition. The event will continue in the afternoon, with a gastronomic competition of boar cooking.
At 17 pm a ballistic demonstration in the countryside around the park, then “Sa rodia de is Cassadoris” (the biggest lies about hunting). At 18 pm the evocative exhibition of the falconers. Until the late evening songs and dances of the island tradition, with the folk groups of Laconi, Monastir and Gadoni. It will end with the performance of the rock group "Old Friends".
