Emergency to face
The wild boar emergency must be resolved once and for all and overpopulation stemmed, before dangerous outbreaks of wild boars rekindle with the arrival of summer. African swine fever. Once again CIA-Agricoltori Italiani is sounding the alarm, speaking this time with the national wildlife manager, Gabriele Carenini, at the conference "Management of the wild boar" organized in Florence by Federcaccia Toscana - UCT and Federcaccia Emilia-Romagna.
The main interventions
At the table with the Masaf undersecretary, Patrizio La Pietra, the vice president of the Tuscan regional council, Stefania Saccardi, and the councilor for agriculture of the Emilia-Romagna region, Alessio Mammi, together with representatives of the main agricultural and hunting organizations, Carenini reported , therefore, the attention on the most urgent actions to secure Made in Italy animal husbandry, as already underlined in the last meeting with the extraordinary commissioner for PSA, Vincenzo Caputo. For Cia, in fact, it remains essential to intervene as soon as possible, starting from the regions most affected by the ASF, Piedmont and Liguria, to protect and support farmers, guaranteeing them the resumption of agricultural activity, even in areas subject to restrictions.
The reform of the law 57/92
Cia, therefore, expects, as expected, that the killing of wild boars from the infected area will be done quickly within 36 months, with the activity of bioregulators (hunters) who will intervene in the operations. Confirming its willingness to collaborate, also at the Federcaccia event, Cia has therefore re-launched its most exhausting battle in recent years: to give Italy a substantial reform of law 157/92. "With over 2 million ungulates in circulation, more than 200 million of damage to agriculture and 469 accidents, even fatal, in four years - Carenini recalled - concrete action is needed with specific and timely interventions" (source: CIA) .
