Regulations
"The law on wells is a historic and strategic measure, and the Regional Council must be acknowledged for this, as well as the approval of the regional legislation on oil tourism. With the first, the foundations are finally laid for a sustainable, monitored and efficient use of extraction; with the second, the Puglia is on its way to becoming the main region in Europe for oil tourism, with very important implications both in terms of production and marketing, and in terms of activities and services that increase the added value of our flagship product”.
The main issues addressed
Gennaro Sicolo, national vice president and regional president of Cia-Agricoltori Italiani, expresses with these words his satisfaction for two of the main issues addressed in the Puglia Region in favor of the primary sector. Positive evaluation also for the steps forward made on the wild boar issue. "The direction taken with respect to the creation of a wild boar meat supply chain is completely understandable: the criticality related to the overwhelming presence of ungulates throughout the Puglia region must be transformed into an opportunity - adds Sicolo - without forgetting however that the culling must be implemented and must be unblocked even in those territories where they seem to be going slowly".
Historic battles
"We are satisfied - continues Sicolo - because on the issues relating to wells, oil tourism and the wild boar emergency, three of our historic battles, the Puglia Region and the entire Regional Council have accepted the proposals of our platform". "On the issue of the files of the consortia under special administration and of the new single consortium, we strongly stigmatize the irresponsible and demagogic position of those who simplify a complex matter, exploiting it to attack those who responsibly, like Cia Puglia, are for a real and concrete solution to the problem. On this issue, on which we have worked incessantly in recent years to denounce the inertia of the consortia and the consequent damages suffered by farmers, we have already said and we reiterate that the national Government cannot avoid making a decision.
The sacrosanct expectations of farmers
We think that the proposal put on the agenda by Councilor Pentassuglia to ask the Government to scrap the past is very wise, with methods that on the one hand meet the sacrosanct expectations of farmers and that, on the other, finally allow the new structure given to the Single Consortium to begin to operate concretely, providing those services to the territories that have been lacking in recent years. One thing must be clear: no to demagogy, no to the exploitation carried out by those who want to look good in the eyes of farmers by proposing unworkable shortcuts that would fall even more heavily on our own agricultural companies".
