The ESC European Championship and the ISSF Fossa Olimpica and Skeet World Cup which will be hosted by the Trap Concaverde of Lonato del Garda (BS) in the months of May and June. The welcome was given by Lara Magoni, Undersecretary of the Lombardy Region with Delegation for Sport and Youth, who did the honors "I am thrilled for this extraordinary table of speakers, friends and sports people with whom I have worked in full synergy in these years. Sport is the world in which I grew up, which I practiced and which gave me great emotions. The Shooting Federation has strong roots in our territory, with 29 clubs and over three thousand practitioners and a long tradition of successes, many of which built right on the platforms of the Concaverde Trap in Lonato del Garda, in events like the ones we are presenting today . Sport is the most important tool for training young people and making them responsible citizens in the future and this is why the Lombardy Region supports events like these with great enthusiasm; unique opportunities for sport and territorial promotion".
The committed athletes
Ivan Carella, President of Trap Concaverde, and Daniele Ghelfi, Fitav Delegate for the Lombardy Region, presented the host structure, a true global excellence of the sport of clay shooting, and the detailed program of the two events: the European Championship will involve 440 athletes in representation of 42 Nations from 16 to 26 May, while the World Cup, for which registration is still open, from 10 to 19 June. The continental review will be the last opportunity to obtain the Olympic passes still available, 4 in total, for Paris 2024. “Lonato and the Concaverde Trap are considered the capital of world clay shooting – explained Luciano Rossi, President of the Italian Shooting Federation a Volo and President of the World Federation of Shooting Sports – An absolute excellence which, with its peculiarity, contributes to the prestige of Italian Sport at an international level. This is why the ISSF has decided to confirm, starting this year, the assignment of two World Cups to the Garda facility, one for 2025 and one for 2026. The Italian Shooting Federation will go to Paris with the full team (only one card is missing in the Men's Skeet, but the one assigned with the Ranking mechanism has mathematically already been won, ed.). It is a great achievement that we proudly give to our CONI, the home of all the Federations and of all Italian Sport, and to our friend Giovanni (Malagò, ed.)".
Lots of excellence
“Shooting is one of the very few Federations to have closed the score with Olympic qualification. It's no small thing. The first cards for Paris of the Italian Delegation were won by Silvana Stanco and Luigi Lodde, who started the composition of the CONI Team at the next Summer Games and gave us enthusiasm – explained Giovanni Malagò, President of CONI – Even the the fact that my friend Luciano (Rossi, ed.) is, at the same time, National President, World President and Board Member of CONI is no coincidence. Many excellences do not happen, but are built with commitment and total dedication to the sport.
