“In the face of a truly unsustainable situation, it is very urgent that the Region takes serious action on the wild issue: from exceptionally extending the hunting period in a non-selective form to increasing the number of hunting guards for control activities, despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid, to the point of actually taking care of coordinating the monitoring on the territories with respect to the implementation of the selection hunting".
This is what Giuseppe Spinelli, Confederal Delegate of Coldiretti Molise, and Aniello Ascolese, Regional Director of the Organization commented on the proliferation of wildlife, following the attack of a wild boar against a hunter and the sentence that condemned the Region a to compensate a citizen for damage suffered as a result of a car accident caused by wild boars. "We acknowledge - continue Spinelli and Ascolese - that the Region has become spokesperson with Minister Bellanova on the problem of wild boars, but the situation is unsustainable and urgent so it is necessary to implement, as soon as possible, extraordinary measures and the process of the ministerial decree must be accelerated, which we have been waiting for for some time now, to change the law in force also in light of the fact that wildlife is part of the state heritage ”.
In Italy there are ten thousand road accidents a year caused by wild animals and over eight out of 10 Italians (81%), according to the Coldiretti / Ixè survey, they think that the wild boar emergency must be tackled with the use of killing, especially by hiring specialized personnel to reduce the number. In Molise, too, in recent years there have been numerous accidents caused by wildlife, unfortunately recording even of the victims. "At risk there are both the safety of citizens and the crops of our entrepreneurs - continue Ascolese and Spinelli - We cannot allow our rural areas and mountains are depopulated after years of work and supervision thanks to the commitment of the farmers who keep the territories alive ”.
