Coldiretti Puglia has raised the alarm on wolves and wild boars in the region. As reported by the agricultural association, in fact, these animals have doubled in ten years, putting at risk agri-food production, other farm animals and the life of farmers and motorists, as evidenced by the incidents. President Gianni Cantele he recalled the growing number of reports of assaults by wolves on calves and sheep, in particular in the Bari and Tarantino areas.
The prey tend to disappear or to be left to die, but there is no lack of macabre finds of the shreds. Coldiretti Puglia has called for a wildlife rebalancing, taking into account the fact that the Zooprophylactic Institute of Foggia revealed the aggression by crosses between wolves and wild dogs. By the way, both wolves and wild boars adapt very well to environmental changes.
Last summer the wolves moved to Basilicata in search of water, while a few weeks ago they returned to Puglia and they settled in wooded areas. Coldiretti also recalled the damage caused by starlings, hares and cormorants, so much so that the economic damage can be quantified at 11 million euros.
