For some time the Region has decided, with a resolution of the council, territorial planning on the selection and killing of wild boars. “This is a decision that could not be postponed and that the farmers of Confagricoltura of Forlì-Cesena and Rimini see favorably - underlines the president of Confagricoltura of Forlì-Cesena and Rimini, Carlo Carli -. The plan provides for annual culls by owners of agricultural businesses with a hunting license. The position of Confagricoltura on the issue has always been that of maximum proximity to farmers. Many are found entire crops ruined by the passage of wild boars. The most fragile part of the territory is certainly that of Rimini, on the border with the Marche".
“The planned killing is very important for the protection of the environment, agriculture and inhabited centers. We have always been close to farmers - continues Carli -. We reiterate once again the need that not only the owners, but also the tenants and contractors of a fund can be included in the wild boar collection and killing plan. Some farmers, in fact, may not be able to directly kill a wild boar, but live in an area where there is a need, our request is therefore to also extend to relatives or in-laws, from the second to the fourth degree of kinship or to contractors, the possibility given by the regional norm. This is an extension request, obviously within the management obligations of the control plan and with the necessary documented activations ".
“The selection guarantees safety for those who frequent the countryside and live there. Unfortunately, wild boars often cause damage and road accidents, with very serious results, from this point of view, I stress the role of guardians of the territory by farmers, a role they have always played and which of course today is even more important and admirable - concludes -. The control plans are managed by the territorial hunting areas, by the protection institutes, by the municipalities. The phenomenon is widespread. A little more than a thousand animals are killed every year. The slaughtered wild boars are by law destined for charity works, with a territorial agreement, defined by the Region and the Municipalities, with Caritas. Only a small percentage, defined by law, goes to restaurants ”.
