Waiting for the final text
With regard to the State-Regions agreement on the National Plan for the Management and Containment of Wild Fauna, of which we await the final text amended by the joint conference, we reiterate how positive the interest of the central State on wildlife management issues is. We are sure that, as they have been doing for years, Italian hunters will make themselves available to ensure that the Plan is successful and achieves its objectives. For intellectual honesty, it should be noted that, following the unfortunate modification to Law No. 157/92, made with the amendment to the last budget law, the approval of the Plan in a short time was necessary in order not to block the control activity in almost all Italian regions.
The words of the Hon. Loggerhead
In fact, many of these have been operating for years as and more than what is heralded today as an epochal success. On the other hand, we find the words of Mr Caretta frankly unacceptable, which envisage a "definitive solution to the problem of wildlife in Italy"; even the lexicon has a weight! No hunter in this country wants a permanent solution to Italy's wildlife problem.
Wildlife management
As is also specified in the premises of the plan, the objective, in addition to combating the PSA health emergency, must be the correct management of wildlife, not its extermination. With regard to the re-establishment of the National Technical Wildlife and Hunting Committee, which ARCICACCIA has been asking for for years, we hope that the recommendation also made by the Unified Conference will be accepted so that it is a body that respects the associative pluralism of all its components and not an ad exclusion operation as we have already denounced (source: Arci Caccia).
