The last IWA that is closing its doors while we are dealing with these notes may have been a minor edition, but it certainly is and remains a stage of absolute importance for valuable gunsmith presentations. This is certainly what Dr. Luca Gaeti must have thought, who, together with Dr. Rodolfo Cosmi, has recently given a new impetus to the very famous all-Italian company, the one that has been producing for many decades the only smooth-bore semi-automatic that can afford to look into the eyes the greatest and historians Side by Side or the same degree over under of the major signatures of the United Kingdom or Belgium. Let's put aside the smooth rods for a moment and examine the field of rifled rods, in particular the one that still represents the base with the sliding swivel action where tradition and functionality move hand in hand. Cosmi presented its rifle in Nuremberg even if not everything is still observable from close up: let's explain the situation.
The all-new bolt action
From the images you can grasp the decidedly personal style with a search for effects of lines and masses where the corners and dihedrals lead the aesthetic dance underlining technical choices oriented to solutions where the possibilities of mechanized processing are combined with a system that guarantees a precision of great level. Today, the lightness of the whole and the precision over long distances are unavoidable parameters to win over high-level customers. Let's see this first example exhibited at the exhibition stand: the basic material is steel with different solutions as regards the combination with other elements and thermochemical treatments. A titanium version will be planned, a special material that Cosmi has been mastering for many years with considerable success. Let's stay a moment with the traditional steel to dwell on the system: the castle itself, or rather the central part of the mechanics which is obtained here from a prism with the greatest development in height and length, while the cross section remains contained. In the upper part there is the ring, in which the barrel is fixed, and the bridge: both compact in size to accommodate the first chambers of the recent 6,5 mm class such as the Creedmoor and the PRC, or the timeless .243 Win . and .308 Win.
Unfortunately, the internal solutions are still in the process of being covered with a patent for which they will be shown shortly when the stamped papers will guarantee their effects. From the outside we observe how the castle performs the function of supporting the barrel, sliding seat of the bolt, magazine compartment and coupling for the stock, divided into two parts: stock with pistol grip and forend under the barrel. In practice, unless otherwise specified, the system already acts as it is bedding leaving the barrel completely free to float. We still focus on the cylinder-type shutter with spiral grooves (other versions are planned), integral three-wing head, powerful extraction claw and double elastic ejection peg. The handlebar does its job with a reduced arc of only 60 °, speeding up the rearmament: the faceted surface of the knuckle is consequential to the general lines, so we reserve the right to test it in the field to make sure that the small edges do not bother the palm of the hand. . 
The barrel of this first example is made of steel with a reduced section for greater lightness: strength is ensured by the carbon fiber coating, a solution already tested by other leading companies. The packet magazine is inserted in the compartment obtained in the central barrel: it is extracted by pressing the usual button inside the guard. The single trigger subtends a direct trigger, but other solutions will certainly be provided in tune with the tastes of shooters. 
The stock, still in homage to lightness, is made of carbon fiber: also for this decisive component either synthetic material or traditional wood will be available. As for the sights, market optics will be relied upon: at the moment the bases are not yet in place, but on the ring and bridge it will be possible to obtain either the holes for the additional bases or, in the course of construction with the milling machine, the integral pieces such as Picatinny. There is a lot of curiosity about a field test: we hope to be able to satisfy you shortly.
