Shared wildlife management
The constructive dialogue between institutions and the agricultural world continues for a shared management of wild fauna. At the headquarters of the Marche region a meeting was held organized by the Councilor for Agriculture, Andrea Maria Antonini, to address the issue of damage to crops caused by ungulates and to illustrate the innovations in the field of anti-ungulate fencing. All the agricultural organizations participated: Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, Cia, Copagri and Liberi Agricoltori.
Excessive presence of wild boars
The discussion first highlighted the growing concern of agricultural companies due to the increasing damage to crops by wild boars. The organizations present asked to operate with maximum rationality in the activation of measures to prevent damage to crops, avoiding, when not strictly necessary, creating further burdens for companies. Councilor Antonini shared the concern regarding the excessive presence of wild boars in the territory, ensuring the involvement of the same associations in the definition of the new Regional Regulation for the management of ungulates, which will be approved shortly.
Areas and crops at greatest risk
During the meeting it was also agreed that anti-ungulate fences this year will not be made mandatory to obtain compensation for damages from the Region but only after having carefully analyzed which areas and crops are at greatest risk of damage. Each farmer will still be able to voluntarily request the provision of prevention tools from the relevant ATC.
