La Coldiretti expressed his deepest satisfaction with the announcement by the Province of Oristano to authorize the demolition of the hooded crow in this part of Sardinia. According to the local section of the association, this is an important response that has been requested and desired several times. Direct farmers from Oristano stressed how wildlife is now an out-of-control problem, as well as an extremely topical topic.
The hooded crow, in particular, represents one of the most harmful species for crops, on the same level as wild boars and cormorants. The provincial plan was therefore essential, with urgent containment interventions: last year it was decided to act in the same way to limit destruction by the birds in question. Among other things, Coldiretti recalled how killing is a deterrent for other animals.
The official note also underlines the importance of timing, given that the plan had to be introduced at the right time and at this point one can hope for greater serenity in the countryside. The hope of Coldiretti Oristano is that the enrolled coadjutors will be activated immediately, starting to to kill the crows in the territories that have recorded the greatest number of damages and inconveniences. For the coming months, other agreements of the same scope and with the same timeliness are expected with regard to execution.
