Regulation of the tourist flow
From Saturday 29 July and until Sunday 10 September 2023, the regulation of the tourist flow on paths I1, F1, L1 came into force for the protection of Apennine chamois. The Val di Rose, Monte Amaro and Monte Meta are cathedrals of biodiversity to be visited on tiptoe, with the same respect shown to works of art and monuments of the past.
The risks to ecosystems
These three iconic places of the Park are the habitat of the Apennine chamois, an endemic species symbol of the Park, which manages to thrive in these rich, complex but at the same time fragile ecosystems. Ecosystems that risk being degraded, if not compromised, by the load deriving from the large tourist influx typical of high season periods.
Closed number controlled
For this reason, for more than thirty years, the Park has been introducing a "controlled limited number" in this period of the year to manage the flow of visitors on the most famous and popular paths of the Park: a fair compromise between conservation needs and fruition needs ( source: Abruzzo National Park).
