Federcaccia expresses its condolences for the death of the former national prosecutor Pierluigi Vigna, a lawyer and hunter.
The former national prosecutor and honorary attorney general of the Court of Cassation Pierluigi Vigna passed away in Florence at the age of 79. Known for his long commitment to the service of the State and institutions, Vigna had never neglected, even in the most difficult and tiring moments of his career as a magistrate, his passion for hunting. For his civic commitment and for having always affirmed and lived the highest values of hunting he was awarded in 1993 by the Italian Federation of Hunting the recognition of Gentleman Hunter.
Born in Borgo San Lorenzo (Florence), he entered the judiciary in 1959 and held the role of national anti-Mafia prosecutor from 1997 to 2005, dealing with the most important investigations into organized crime. In 2005, the President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi awarded him the honor of Knight of the Grand Cross Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
In the 80s he had dealt with the crimes of the so-called monster of Florence and had investigated terrorism at length, from the Christmas massacre of the 904 train to the neofascist train attacks in Tuscany up to the 1993 massacres, when the mafia also hit Florence with the car bomb placed in via dei Georgofili.
Frank and direct, Vigna has often gone against the tide, declaring himself contrary to the political commitment of the judges and in favor of the separation of careers between judges and prosecutors, fighting for the establishment of the anti-mafia district courts and for the grouping of anti-mafia investigative structures into a single body .
The National President Gian Luca Dall'Olio and the entire Italian Federation of Hunting extend their deepest condolences to his family and to all who knew him.
