Il Piedmont Regional Administrative Court ruled on a hunter's appeal after the Vercelli Police Headquarters had revoked the rifle port license. After a check by the Carabinieri, in fact, four hunting rifles and 368 12-gauge ammunition had been discovered, all regularly reported. In reverse, 14 single-bullet 20-gauge cartridges and one 20-gauge buckshot cartridge were not reported: the man had explained that it was ammunition owned by his father, but, as already specified, the police had revoked the hunting license.
The hunter then filed an appeal, insisting above all on tenuousness of the fact and on the absence of any will to hide the possession of the cartridges. The appeal was deemed unfounded by the TAR: according to the administrative judges, the hunter had ammunition that he could not use for the weapons reported, therefore he either held others or it was a serious forgetfulness.
Among other things, the man who appealed had also explained that he had not noticed the presence of other cartridges, but this situation was not considered plausible, given that the unreported ammunition was together with the reported ammunition. The sentence confirmed the prohibition of the carrying of weapons, also because what happened cannot be considered a simple formal non-compliance.
