The sections of Verona ofNational Free Hunting Association and the Springer Spaniel Club of Italy they organized the trophy "Colli Morenici del Garda": these are two aptitude tests for hunting dogs, Springer Cocker and other Spaniels, an event valid as a qualification to the interregional championship of the Club as regards Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The event is open to everyone, therefore it is not necessary to be registered with the association. The two tests consist of a type A final with the wild animal killed and the ranking and prizes of the day for first five dogs in the standings of each category. The trophy with the gold medal will be awarded to the best Cocker and the best Springer who will have distinguished themselves in the tests, regardless of the category they belong to.
The first race is scheduled for today, Sunday 3 April 2016, with the meeting fixed at Sona, in the province of Verona. The accepted categories are "Young Cocker-Springer Hunters", "Cocker-Springer Hunters", "Qualified Young Cocker-Springer" and "Qualified Cocker-Springer". As for the wild, depending on availability they may be pheasants or gray partridges. The second round, the Type A final, will take place in exactly two weeks, on Sunday 17 April 2016. The meeting will take place at 7:30 am at the “Nuova Scardua” hunting farm in cavriana, in the province of Mantua.
The admitted categories are the same listed above: pheasants or partridges will also represent the game to be killed. Usually, the regulation provides that the manner and method of hunting for each subject must correspond to what is prescribed by the working standard of the individual breeds, as well as being in relation to the type of test to be carried out. The search for dogs must always be such as to guarantee the complete and effective exploration of the terrain. The judges never admit discontinuous actions or even disordered or deficient searches: the initiative must be recognized in the dog, in addition to theintelligence needed to do the job required.
Each dog is obliged to be well in the hand of the handler. Usually, then, in the continental races the turn has the specific function of deepen the assessment of the subject's suitability to work without disturbing his or her partner and without being subjected to it. The first results of this important trophy will already be known today, which will then be added to those of April 17 to understand who will be able to participate in the Interregional Championship: handlers and dogs from Veneto and Friuli are ready to compete and reach the most ambitious goal.
