FIDC's clarification
“For today's decision taken at European level to downgrade the Wolf conservation status, which absolutely does not mean that it can be hunted, the Hon. Bonelli accuses gunsmiths and hunters. To stay on topic, we can say that he has definitely missed the mark”. This is how the National President of Federcaccia Massimo Buconi FIDC commented on the statements of the Hon. Angelo Bonelli, co-spokesperson for Europa Verde and member of parliament for Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, who found nothing better than to bring up the “lobby” of hunters and gunsmiths to condemn the change in the protection status of the wolf adopted this morning by a majority of over two thirds of the parties, supported by the European Union (27 votes), and by Andorra, Armenia, Georgia, Iceland, Norway, Macedonia, Moldova, Lichtenstein, Serbia, Switzerland, Ukraine.
Bonelli's words
Bonelli went hard: "They want to kill everything that moves in the woods and fields, as long as it is not human. And sometimes they even shoot humans. It is the lobby of gunsmiths and hunters that, with the support of this right, managed to get the wolf downgraded in order to hunt it".
Accusations against the Government
Bonelli himself then added: “They kill bears, they want to kill ibex, in Abruzzo President Marsilio tried to kill deer, and now wolves too. They have already altered biodiversity and biological balance: the wolf, a natural predator, used to hunt wild boars, but now wild boars are in excess. And all this is happening under the direction of the Minister of Hunting (sorry, Agriculture) Francesco Lollobrigida and in the silence of Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment. But does a Minister of the Environment exist? Those celebrating are the gunsmiths, the producers of ammunition, like the MEP of Fratelli d'Italia Pietro Fiocchi. They are the new barbarians, who want a world without animals”.
