With the company DT11 over / under shotgun, Beretta has created the shotgun of many shooters' dreams: wide action frame, Steelium barrels - the technology adopted by Beretta which gives the triple-alloyed steel, through deep drilling, cold hammering and vacuum stretching processes, the ideal characteristics for superior performance. In the DT11 the maximum expression of this technology has been adopted with Steelium Pro barrels, characterized by a long conical profile, up to 17 cm from the muzzle to ensure homogeneous patterns as well as very reduced recoil and wheelie. The matte finish eliminates the possibility of reflections that could distract the shooter from the target, allowing for maximum concentration.
With the company DT11 Black the era of carbon on clay pigeon guns has begun. Finally, the same weapon solves the needs of those who want a light rather than a heavy gun, easily balanced and very multifaceted.
The carbon rib in addition to having less refraction and better linearity, compared to the metal one, allows a saving on the weight of the rods of about 100 g; it is constrained with a new dovetail fastening system without welding, so as to allow maximum freedom to the upper barrel.
In the DT11 Black over-and-under shotgun, the body and underguard of the trigger group are also made of carbon fiber. This allows a further containment of the weights, in the central part of the weapon, thus having an insignificant effect on the balance. As in the DT11, the trigger group is of the removable type and can be quickly replaced, even with the steel one of the "gray" version. Of course, the position of the trigger can be adjusted according to the shooter's hand.
The action is completely black - hence the name Beretta Black Edition - and the opaque surfaces are interspersed with glossy inserts and a gray frieze. All tone-on-tone, giving the shotgun unparalleled elegance. The opening key is also black, and slightly deflected to facilitate opening after the shot. Of course, the safety mechanism is always black, inside which the selector is located.
So far we have talked about features that enhance its lightness and handling. Since the world of shooting is very varied - each shooter has different needs, due to their build, habits and often mental predispositions - with the DT11 Black Beretta wanted to create the shotgun for all needs, allowing for extreme customization. Disassembling the shotgun you immediately notice a series of holes made on the rib in the section covered by the shaft: this is the B-Fast system for balancing or weighting the barrel. The holes are nothing more than the seats for a series of weights (5 per side) of 5 or 10 g, which, through a system of magnets, can be applied to the rods. This allows for an adjustment range of 100 g. Of course, the B-Fast system is also replicated in the stock, where, under the butt plate, it is possible to insert or remove a series of weights, so as to always obtain the perfect or desired shotgun balance.
Also for the stock it is possible to choose the adjustable version, which with the full version of the B-Fast, allows the upper part to be moved upwards, left or right, all in an easily replicable way in case of accidental movement thanks to a series of washers for height adjustment and a graduated scale for the fin.
The shooters of Team Beretta are currently testing it, with very positive results and impressions. Furthermore, during the classic Gold Cup, at the HIT Show in Vicenza and at the Game Fair 2016 in Grosseto, Beretta has set up a test field, where all fans can try the latest generation weapons. Personally I have had the opportunity to shoot with the DT11 Black both on the occasion of HIT Show 2016, in the company of Mauro de Filippis, and during the Gold Cup Beretta of Elica and Skeet in Arezzo: important occasions also to collect feedback from those who have tried their hand at the Beretta Black Edition series, which is as well as from the DT11 also from 692 Black and 690 Black, all available in both Sporting and Trap versions.
The first impression of anyone who has tried the gun was of great speed in acquiring the target, perhaps consuming a few cartridges before getting used to the low weight, but once "understood" they found an undeniable advantage.
With the company DT11 Black Edition, Beretta takes a big step towards a shooter-sized shotgun, not only for the customized stock but also for the technology applied. The goal is to make professional shooters stronger and stronger, but also to give a perfect "machine" to the amateur or the simple shooting enthusiast. An ambitious goal, which required strong investments and great professionalism, which only the oldest arms factory in the world can afford.
