Eka is a company that has been around for over a century and is based in Eskilstuna, central-eastern Sweden, Södermanland county. Many knives in the catalog, but at the end of the nineties it specialized in knives for hunters. Even today, about 85% of production, in total about 50 thousand knives per year, is concentrated on hunting knives. Since 2024, Eka knives have been distributed in our country by Forest Italia. An international success of Eka from the 8s, the Nordic E4 Swingblade model, is designed by the professional hunter Thomas Ekberg. The Eka SwedBlade G3 is currently the best seller and derives from that model which then became G4 and now G5, G6 and GXNUMX. It is designed for ungulates and stands out for its versatility and ease of use. It has a well-designed ergonomic handle, but above all a rotating, double and reversible blade, which allows the use and functionality of two blades of different styles, for skinning and evisceration.
The two blades are made of a single piece of stainless steel: you can quickly switch from the skinning blade to the evisceration blade with a simple, fluid movement when the release button is pressed. A good hunting knife for ungulates must be a sturdy, safe, ergonomic and easy-to-clean tool, capable of effectively carrying out the skinning, evisceration and possibly slaughtering of the animal, maintaining the hygiene conditions necessary to guarantee a safe meat supply chain.

The most common shape is the “skinner”, with a low point and a curved cutting edge, ideal for skinning the animal, but also for cutting where needed. For evisceration, you need to use a “reverse” blade, that is, concave, without a point and with a sharp “hook” to open the abdomen of the animal, typically using the weak hand to hold the skin off, without damaging the internal organs.
Quality materials
The Eka Swedblade G5 orange is equipped with a drop point skinning blade and a special concave evisceration blade. This feature allows you to quickly switch from one operation to another without having to change knives and even using just one hand, by using the thumb on the elastic lock button located near the pivot pin with Allen screw and bronze bushings for the blade sliding. The lock appears safe for any type of handling, while the design of the blades allows for various possibilities of holding them.

The blades are made of Alleima 12C27 stainless steel hardened to 57-59 Hrc, known for its strength, corrosion resistance and ability to maintain its edge. The drop point blade is ground flat and has a flat “V” edge, to improve performance in the field. The other blade has a “scandi” sharpening, i.e. chisel-like. The skinning blade is 95 millimeters long, the evisceration blade is 84 millimeters. Between the two blades there is a hole for the pin and a crescent-shaped slot that allows the blade to swing and stop when open. The measurements are a good compromise between handling and cutting capacity. The knife weighs just 135 grams.

Proflex handle
The wrap-around scales in Proflex, a thermoplastic elastomer, offer a secure grip even in wet conditions or with bloody hands and even when wearing the prescribed silicone gloves. Inside, steel liners ensure strength and mechanics. The ergonomic shape of the handle ensures a comfortable grip, reducing fatigue during prolonged use. Two Allen screws lock the handle assembly, an eyelet at the end acts as a spacer and allows you to attach a wrist strap. The high-visibility orange color makes it easy to spot the knife in woodland environments. There is also a version with a black handle.

The knife design allows for easy cleaning and disinfection, preventing the growth of bacteria. Each piece has a serial number for registration and warranty. The sheath is made of Kydex, a durable and lightweight thermoplastic material, dishwasher safe. It allows you to carry the knife safely and comfortably, protecting the blade and preventing accidents. By moving the fixing screws, it can be carried vertically or horizontally.
The Eka Swedblade G5 orange is a versatile and functional knife, ideal for hunters looking for a reliable tool for the processing of ungulates. The combination of high-quality materials, ergonomic design and safe locking mechanism makes it a safe and performing knife.
