Emergency Boars. The regional president of Copragri, Camillo D'Amico writes to the regional councilor Dino Pepe proposing some measures for a possible solution to the problems produced by the excessive proliferation of wild boar populations.
So writes D'Amico: “Dear Councilor, with the close of the season of hunting 2015, in all its gravity and entirety, the problem of the high number of ungulates present on the regional territory with particular reference to wild boars.
The current containment regulation, which must be coupled with the application of the five-year plans to be implemented by the ATCs, from the data in our possession has given good results when applied and monitored while it is absolutely inapplicable and with little objective results. where it was not as in the Vastese area. We look forward to good news from the province of L'Aquila to understand and understand how and when the five-year plan will be approved.
As you know, last November 20 in Ortona (Ch), we gave life to a regional conference on the subject in the presence of Lorenzo Berardinetti, president of the 3rd permanent council commission "Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing" of the Abruzzo region, where we did an examination of the contents of the regulation and verified the first results provided by the ATCs present.
From this event the need emerged with strength and clarity to: - extend the period of wild boar hunting in this hunting season; - set up as soon as possible the technical table open to all stakeholders in the supply chain to produce significant improvements to the regional regulation in force; - allow, where possible also with targeted agreements and mandatory health checks, campaigns for the numerical containment of wild boar in reserve areas and parks.
To all this, We add to you, a decisive initiative aimed at intensifying controls in that part of the territory where the regulation is contested, but the abatements occur with absolute regularity, and to do so with diligence and solicitude also due to the regulatory uncertainty and organizational in the transfer of functions from the Provinces to the Region which is limiting the important coordination and supervision action.
