In the last hours the Lombardy region approved a resolution to combat the proliferation of wild boars, a measure aimed at protecting e safeguard agricultural crops. The proposal had come fromDepartment of Agriculture, Food and Green Systems. In short, licensed farmers will be able to slaughter ungulates twelve months a year. The containment is therefore expanded, without limiting the activity to the provincial police only e to hunters.
Throughout the Lombardy region, wild boar ruined crops for almost 1,7 million euros in the period included between 2013 and last year. Furthermore, the safety of people cannot be underestimated. All 'ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) greater flexibility was requested from this point of view, in particular for the hunted technique for a more incisive containment. Among other things, a further goal to be achieved is that of classify the territory in suitable and non-suitable areas for an ideal concentration of interventions.
The resolution is inspired by the Regional Law 19 of 2017 ("Wildlife management - hunting of wild boar and recovery of injured ungulates"): the third paragraph of article 4 speaks of the owners and fund holders. No less importance must be given to health and hygiene checks on the felled garments.
