A controversial decision
The decision of the Ministry of the Environment not to nominate among the members of the Management Committee and the Consultation Table of the National Biodiversity Strategy 2030 any representative of the hunting world. We recall that this Committee is provided for by Decree no. 252 of 3 August 2023 and has the task of implementing Italy's strategy to preserve and enhance the natural heritage of our country between now and 2030. Precisely for this reason, ENALCACCIA deems it unacceptable that an entire sector of great economic, social and scientific value such as hunting - which has always fought for the defense of the environment and nature, its natural areas of activity - is practically erased within the Committee. At the end of November, in its assembly in Chianciano, ENALCACCIA set as the key phrase of its activity a clear and unequivocal statement: "In harmony with the environment and nature for safe and sustainable hunting".
Intergroup Hunting
How is it possible that the Committee includes representatives of Ministries, Regions and Autonomous Provinces, environmental associations, agricultural organizations, cooperatives, and other economic and social entities, representatives of WWF Italy, Federparchi, Coldiretti and Confindustria and no one from the hunting world? Especially since hunting plays a leading role at European level: in the Brussels Parliament – it is worth remembering – the hunting intergroup was established, which includes over one hundred parliamentarians from all EU countries.
A fundamental role
ENALCACCIA believes it is essential that the hunting associations gathered in the CONTROL CABIN speak decisively with one voice, so that their fundamental role in the Committee that will manage the National Biodiversity Strategy in the coming years is respected and recognized. The Minister of the Environment had assured the hunting world of adequate involvement in the Committee.
