Also 'ANPAM file (National Association of Sports and Civil Weapons and Ammunition Manufacturers), CONARM ME (Italian Armourers Consortium) e Assoarmeri they decided to comment on the revision of the EU Arms Directive. The trade associations of the Italian supply chain have taken note of some text improvements, the original version of which contained too many and unjustified restrictions, without scientific basis. The three associations, however, underlined how there are still evident criticalities in the directive.
For example, the desire to invade the competence of member states over the determination of requirements for issuing the license or the criteria for domestic custody. At the same time, they did not like the new regulations on the marking of weapons, given that they are not present in any international treaty and follow a model rejected by the UN. More than facilitating traceability, according to trade associations this measure will end up penalizing European operators.
Nor is it shared that the reproduction of ancient weapons have been placed on the same level as modern hunting, shooting and defense weapons. Furthermore, ANPAM, Assoarmieri and CONARMI disagree with the inclusion of some civilian weapons in the prohibited categories. In addition to further investigations, the three associations believe it is necessary to fight terrorism by controlling territories and borders, avoiding creating excessive restrictions and bureaucracy.
