Yesterday, Thursday 28 January 2016, theEurispes presented the Italy Report for the year that has just begun. This is the publication that has been disseminated for 28 years by the body that deals with political, economic and social studies (born in 1982 as Ispes, the headquarters are located in Rome): among the most interesting data and percentages that have emerged are no doubt those relating to hunting. According to the Report, in fact, the 68,5% of citizens is contrary to hunting, a figure down from last year (78,5% to be precise). A very similar drop was recorded by those who were against the production of fur, as it dropped from 90 to 86,3%.
As he pointed out Hunting Federation, the report merely reports the percentages of those against hunting, but the decline compared to a year ago means that the criticisms and exploitation of those who oppose hunting have not changed over time, however, the Italians are beginning to realize that the reality of hunting and of those who practice it is very different. The 2016 Italy Report also refers to animals: in particular, the percentage of who would like to abolish the practice of their use in circuses and zoos, while the number of people opposed to dolphinaria is decreasing.
Those who would like to welcome pets in hotels have also grown and that I agree on their access in public places. Going back to hunting, the numbers mentioned above can be integrated with those that emerged from a research carried out a few years ago by AstraRicerche per il National Hunting and Nature Committee. Almost half of the interviewees (48%) explained that they were in some way close to hunting, both because they practiced it and because they had family or friends as hunters.
Only 13% of the sample examined stated that they knew absolutely nothing about hunting and hunters, first of all women, the elderly and young people between 18 and 24 years old. The numbers relating to former hunters of that period (about 5%) and to people who go hunting without shooting should also be mentioned (3%, especially men between 45 and 64 years old). After many years, many things have changed and legislative changes have also taken place: the ten percentage points less "opponents" is a sobering fact and which could allow for a more direct and unprejudiced dialogue between the parties involved.
