Fasano: the provincial and regional wildlife plan challenged.
Last Thursday, the Province of Brindisi was notified of the sentence of the TAR of Lecce which in fact challenged the provincial and regional wildlife plan and declared the “Egnatia-Torre Canne” wildlife protection oasis illegitimate. The administrative court had thus accepted the appeal of Leonardo Cofano (owner of a land located within the oasis itself), defended by the lawyers Stefano Palmisano and Giuseppe Angiulli, who was against the establishment of that area. A victory also for the section of Coldiretti di Fasano which with its representative of the area Franco Palazzo and its president Antonio Tauro had supported this battle.
In fact, almost all the landowners interested in the oasis were members of this association and all said they were against it. "The denial of consent - read their appeals - is motivated by the fact that in the area subject to restriction olive and horticultural crops of excellent value and quality are practiced". The latter, according to Coldiretti, would have been in grave danger given the massive presence of wildlife, mostly transfers (not huntable in case of establishment of the oasis). "Above all the horticultural sector - say the Coldiretti representatives - would have a sudden drop in quality with consequent depreciation of the product on the market, as the droppings of billions of these poultry, now settled, would seriously jeopardize both the product and food safety. of consumers. It is clear that the measure, by identifying the areas that have always been suited to the aforementioned productions, would further intensify the presence of these birds. Furthermore, it is recalled that the Provincial Administration itself, in not remote times, had supported, with the trade associations, the request to the Puglia Region for the derogation from the opening of hunting for reversedthe". Therefore, the trade association expressly requests that the land remain a hunting area. And for greater support, the landowners concerned have delivered a document with some of their explicit requests to the provincial councilors Antonio Scianaro and Bebè Anglani. The two exponents of the PDL will take him to the next provincial council to be held on November 20.
