As reported by the site Osservatoriooggi.it, the former councilor of the Municipality of Fasano (province of Brindisi) and current candidate of "We are here" Tonio Zizzi sent a letter to the governor of Puglia, Michele Emiliano, and to the regional councilor Leonardo Di Gioia, for clarification on the hunting for starlings and on hunting calendar 2016-2017. Zizzi was prompted by many Fasanese hunters and referred to another letter, dated January 2016, in which they asked for explanations on the suspension of hunting for some species.
The content takes its cue from the letter four months ago, in particular the Region was asked whether the problem of the ban on hunting the common starling has finally been overcome. Zizzi and the local hunters want to know if ISPRA's opinion has been requested on time, the only way to put an end to the economic damage suffered every year by the Apulian agricultural sector and from the territory north of Brindisi.
The former councilor also asked himself a question, that is, whether Puglia has integrated the studies on the pre-nuptial migration of some migratory wild species such as song thrush, woodcock and cesena to insert them near the approval of the 2016-2017 hunting calendar with the same opinion and in compliance with EU laws. If so, the Apulian hunters will know the opening and closing dates of the hunt for individual species, as well as valid from the first to the last day of hunting.
