Fausti proposes the new DEA Express side-by-side rifled shotgun to all driven hunt enthusiasts. This gun contains all the peculiar characteristics of the Fausti house, such as reliability, elegance and manageability while retaining the timeless charm of a hunting rifle of yesteryear.
Since 1948 Fausti has been making high-quality hunting and competition rifles with care and passion, showing off in the world the expression of a centuries-old tradition capable of combining the ancient manual skills of master craftsmen with modern technologies in terms of materials and ballistics.
The beautiful and determined Fausti sisters, Elena, Giovanna and Barbara, have for years now undergone the management of the historic Macherno company founded after the war by their father, Cavalier Officiali Stefano Fausti; in a market where semiautomatic and over-and-under take over and multiply, the Marcheno house focuses its efforts on the side-by-side shotgun, the classic side-by-side shotgun now neglected by many hunters, and wins by restoring it to new vigor.
With one eye on innovation and the other on tradition, Fausti has decided to create the Dea Express, a rifled barrel side-by-side shotgun for driven hunts with a simple and elegant character at the same time.
All over the world, Fausti shotguns are synonymous with high quality and aesthetic standards enhanced and made unique by impeccable and refined manual finishes as well as the possibility of customizing them at the customer's request by modifying each model with the preferred stock and engraving.
Weighing machine
The action is a solid Anson & Deeley modified Box Lock, created in high-strength Ni-Cr-Mo tri-alloy steel, whose components are made with a modern numerical control machine making them interchangeable; sophisticated control instruments then guarantee the quality and absolute reliability. The sides of the receiver of the DEA Express are externally flattened, joining with extreme naturalness to the well-proportioned head; the rounded lower lid supports the front prong of the guard, wide and pleasantly oval, which gradually tapers in the back to the long guard. The single trigger can be replaced with the double trigger; the firing mechanism is (for Express side-by-side only) made up of coil springs instead of the classic V springs mounted on all Fausti's smooth-bore side-by-side shotguns. A choice made by Fausti to eliminate any possibility of breakage which, for obvious safety reasons, should not occur in an Express shotgun.

The opening key is inserted at the top of the action, in a single piece with the pin, slender but very austere, while the safety button has an elongated body, slightly rounded and knurled. The concept of the Anson & Deeley type Box Lock includes a few complementary pieces of simple and robust construction as well as easy processing and assembly thanks to the open bottom.
It is a functional weapon but also the eye wants its part, so the action frame of the Dea Express is available in two variants, in the “old silver” version and in the “tortoiseshell” version; the engraving is simple and elegant at the same time, embellished with ornaments and gold inserts, and is performed entirely by hand by the master engravers of the Fausti house, from whom it is then signed.
Furthermore, being a very exclusive gun, conceived for a particular type of hunting, the action of the Dea Express is made on the action of the cal. 20 so that if necessary you can also order a 20 gauge barrel and thus use the rifle for another type of hunting.
Barrels and stock
The barrels are 60 cm long and are made of chromium nickel steel, tempered by cold roto-hammering, with an excellent degree of internal and external finishing according to the most modern construction and ballistic concepts, capable of guaranteeing a low and reduced recoil sensation detection. In addition, the geometric perfection of the rifling made with this procedure gives the barrels of the Dea Express excellent shooting accuracy; in fact Fausti guarantees for this side-by-side shotgun, as for the other models of the house, a shot pattern test at 50 meters thanks to a particular calibration system that allows the Macherno house to guarantee the ballistics of the weapon over time. This side-by-side is available in 8 × 57 JRS, 9,3x74R, .30R Blaser, .30-06, .444 Marlin, .45-70 US Government calibers.
The external surfaces are also well finished, highlighting the glossy burnishing. The extraction can be manual or automatic with anti-rotating extractors to always guarantee perfect ejection, which protrude in the breech with large gripping sectors.
Stocking
The choice of woods and attention to detail is the characteristic of the Fausti house. The stock, pistol-style with a Bavarian-style cheek pad or, optionally English-style, is made of elegant European walnut in the grain and in the background color, of fine workmanship both for the lines and in the edition of the surfaces. The woods are finished with oil, with a soft and dark tone, English style and with a perfect embedding between woods and metals. The stock is also equipped with a ventilated black rubber pad which has the function of attenuating recoil.
The wraparound type half beaver tail shaft is particularly ergonomic, with the section that is refined at the front ending in a light and pleasant goose beak and makes you appreciate all its functionality in the case of repeated strokes, when the reeds heat up; the release is by piston. Both on the stock and on the fore-end, a fine-pitched Scottish-type knurling is carried out completely by hand, which guarantees a high grip grip.
Pointing devices
The Dea Express side-by-side shotgun is a shotgun with specific functions for driven hunts, a type of hunting where the shot is shot at a short distance and often in the presence of vegetation, therefore it is equipped with a rifle on a ramp and a rear sight. open, foldable mounted, on the full and concave upper half rib. On request it is possible to mount on the side-by-side a red fiber optic front sight or, possibly, a red dot optic after mounting the slide fixed to the appropriate attachments for which the weapon is already prepared. The aiming devices are already calibrated by the house on the classic 50 meters.
The Dea Express side-by-side shotgun is delivered in the exclusive VL320 type case which contains any accessories, as well as the dismantled weapon in its main parts.
In conclusion, the Fausti Dea Express side-by-side shotgun is a very precise, reliable, functional and at the same time elegant shotgun; the assembly, casing, assembly and all finishes of the weapon are made, as already mentioned, entirely by hand by the master craftsmen of the Fausti house. The low weight of this weapon, only 2,9 kg, and the excellent balance give it a remarkable maneuverability ensuring excellent performance in large hunting such as boar driven.
