La Faust di Marcheno firmly directed by the three sisters Elena, Giovanna and Barbara certainly cannot be accused of inaction or of tying all her work to technically valid products, good-looking and excellent performance on the field. There are of course the two traditional strands of side-by-side and over-and-under set up with a wide range of finishes and offered in all calibers for smooth rods, without lacking the right presence even in the difficult and special field of rifled canes. For some time this House has seen the rifle, an exquisitely technical element in itself, such as the color palette and the painter's canvas on which works of art, historical episodes and illustrious personalities can be represented to the public. In our nation this superb practice is not the cultural heritage of a large number of people, the philosophical ostracism aimed at arms is still well orchestrated, even though a selected team exists and then, as soon as attention is turned abroad, the United States primarily, it will be observed how this practice is followed and honored with the consideration it deserves.
The superimposed Venetian
Let's look at this latest creation of the Faust dedicated to the city that more than any other represents the charm, the charm, the dream, the mercantile skills of the past and the consequent wealth used with rare mastery in the management of the Public Thing and in the creation of Beauty, yes with a capital letter, in everything. Venice was the gateway between East and West, a miscellany of cultures, the scene of characters such as Casanova who still today attract attention and underlie intriguing affairs and impossible loves, a city hanging from the sky and suspended on the water, something indefinite, but of unparalleled capabilities in every sector. Dedicating your own rifle to her is an act of reverence for what in the 700s Venice also represented for Brescia, the city of arms which under the Serenissima enjoyed enormous development and well-deserved consideration: the Lion of St. Mark with the gospel and the sword represented the two souls, word and action, under which the ancient republic moved.
We thus give the right evidence to this rifle, indeed to the series of rifles included in the denomination Venetian, starting from the technical system of the rounded action frame for a lighter and more collected volume where the slightly convex back joins with the sides that rise to that line of the board that horizontally marks the contact with the barrels and then rises to enclose the breasts, small and graceful, highlighted by a shiny arched relief. The integral pin key with perforated button is inserted into the equally rounded head, followed on the upper tang by the slide of the safety in which the button of the firing switch is inserted: in fact, the mechanism equipped with the single trigger is fitted. At this point, the oval of the guard should be highlighted, which extends into a lower tail of constant amplitude and tangent with the guard, also in steel, inserted in the half pistol of the handle: a design with profiles and volumes that closely resemble the masterful ones of the English express.
Seals and closures belong to the patented type called Four Locks® equipped with half-pins and trunnions with four contrast points provided by two milled reliefs in the sides of the receiver and the corresponding recesses made in the breech monobloc with which the barrels are joined; the system is integrated with the addition of two rear tenons placed side by side that abut against the bottom crosspiece: the plug moved by the key is inserted into the rear mortise of these tenons, thus closing.
The high-class walnut stock does its part in capturing the attention of the observer thanks to the warm background color on which the brown flames stand out, to the correct arrangement of the vein pattern, to the sections and volumes involved, all studied. to support aesthetics and technical function with elegance; not secondary then the work of casing performed with skill and mastery. A nod toAoget plant for the release of the dipstick where the lever and its seat are treated in a very particular way.
A nod then to Calibri proposed defined according to the usual British scheme among the middle, therefore the 16/70 and 20/70, and among the little ones with the 28/70 and .410mg. In our opinion, a very focused choice to better highlight the structure of the shotgun: it should be remembered that the action frames are of specific measures in relation to the caliber, therefore with weights, handling, aesthetics coherently merged together. The sizes of the stock and barrels, chokes and anything else that forms the specific heritage of the weapon can be agreed upon when placing the order to obtain a tailor-made and personalized shotgun.
The incision
The soul of Venice is expressed by the engraving edited by Morghen studio e produced in a limited edition: we only mention a few details such as the entablature in the button of the key that recalls the profile of certain openings characteristic of city buildings, or the intersection of two grating irons that appears on the guard, or again on the body of the key, the bauta, the characteristic eighteenth-century Venetian mask surmounted by the equally characteristic tricorn hat. On the back stands the Lion of St. Mark, represented here in the version with the Gospel only and without the sword: at the War Museum in Rovereto the leaflets launched on Vienna by D'Annunzio's enterprise are surrounded by a drawing of the Lion, but with a beautiful sword ready to use and the wording coined by the poet reads Iterum rudit leo, the lion roars again: it is the best wishes for this new rifle for a success worthy of the efforts made in its realization.
