La Federcaccia dell'Abruzzo has decided to appeal to the Regional Administrative Court to address the issue of hunting calendar on the 2018-2019 season. The announcement came directly from the regional president, Ermanno Morelli. The instance is opposed to that of the WWF which has already sparked a furious controversy in this region: the goal is to protect Abruzzo hunters and respect the laws governing the calendar itself.
According to what Morelli reported, moreover: "With the 2018-19 hunting calendar, the commissioner Dino Pepe has outdone himself, publishing it on August 2 and updating it, in a pejorative version, the 4 September. Among the many illegitimate situations, the commissioner manages to bypass regional and national laws, forcing the hunt for snipe in January, only from a fixed or temporary stakeout. It is a pity that he has not been warned that it is an illegitimate measure ”. Another reason for concern is the shorter time available for hunting woodcock.
For the president: "In Italy, hunting is also held in January, while the Abruzzo hunting calendar provides, in its latest version, submission to decisions of ISPRA for the period 2019. It would be appropriate to understand on what basis he took this decision. There are many other inconsistencies, such as the regulation of hunting inside Sic and Zps, already regulated at national and European level, and where any prohibitions depend on the adoption of a management regulation, currently non-existent ".
