An objective national data
Le European elections took place and had as their first objective national data: low voter turnout among those entitled to vote. Obviously it is not up to us to make judgments but the fact remains that there is no point in complaining about what happens if when we can exercise a right, a great right, that of determining who should represent and govern us, we prefer to give it up. As regards the results of the vote, for the part that interests us as citizen hunters, we believe we can be moderately satisfied. If we exclude the failure to elect the candidate Bruzzone, who nevertheless had a great response in Brescia and Lombardy but not enough to decree his election due to a decrease in his party's elected representatives, both Fidanza and Gori were elected. Many other honorable members were then elected who we know are close to our world, from Fiocchi to Magoni, from Mantovani to Vivaldini and Salini to name a few we know. The next step for those elected is to join the Intergroup "Biodiversity, Rurality and Hunting", an Intergroup whose interlocutor for our world is FACE Europe. We will see in the not too distant future how we will be able to relate to the new European Parliament, clearly at the level of the national unitary control room of the hunting world, with the hope of being able to have attention on the issues that are vital to us too often determined in Europe with great ease and without real dialogue between all stakeholders.
Database
The Lombardy Region, signed by the director Bertinotti, clarified the situation of the database in a statement issued two days ago. First of all, to clarify that both the birds entered into the database by the deadline of 30 May, also for the purposes of requesting any bands, and those possibly reported at a later date can be used for hunting purposes in the next hunting season, provided they are equipped with irremovable numbered marks, i.e. current rings. Even while waiting for the famous bands that the Lombardy Region will have to procure, it is clarified that in the absence of them there is the possibility of using decoys, just as there remains the possibility of ringing young pullets possibly bred with the marks issued by recognized ornithological associations, obviously to be registered on a date following the birth. However, it would be important for the rings for the new pulleys to be made of steel or duralumin, to avoid other complaints from the usual suspects. This Regional note, while on the one hand reassures us in view of the next hunting season with respect to the possibility of using live decoys, on the other hand makes us think that the Lombardy Region itself is seeing the times for the supply of the bands that hunters have expressly requested with the registration of the requirement in the database. And for this reason, very correctly, you begin to put your hands forward in a logic of respect for a form of hunting, that from stalking to migratory hunting, widely practiced in Lombardy, and particularly in the Brescia area.
The lack of scientific support
The Councilor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry of the Lombardy Region Alessandro Beduschi has asked for an urgent meeting with ISPRA regarding highly topical issues concerning the world of hunting and fishing. “Lombardy - declares Beduschi - wishes to reiterate its commitment to operating in full compliance with the laws and regulations in force regarding hunting and fishing. However, we cannot ignore the growing difficulties caused by the responses that arrive from ISPRA after each of our actions, which are often completely devoid of adequate scientific support". “We find ourselves faced – continues the councilor – with an ideological wall. This situation concerns not only the definition of minimum quantities and hunting in derogation, but also issues such as the reopening of roccoli or, to move on to the fishing sector, even the reintroduction of whitefish into Lake Garda." According to Beduschi, the Lombardy Region remains available for dialogue and collaboration with ISPRA, with the common objective of ensuring responsible management of hunting and fishing activities in the area. On these assumptions, the councilor asks to meet Pietro Genovesi, Head of the ISPRA Service for the coordination of wildlife activities and Acta Commissioner on the topic of mountain passes. “It is essential that ISPRA provides arguments based on consolidated data and not on prejudice. If we are given negative answers, they must be supported by concrete and motivated evidence, as hunters and fishermen are not outlaws, but citizens who ask for clear rules to be able to carry out their activities in compliance with the rules and environmental sustainability" (source: FIDC Brescia ).
