Federcaccia inaugurated the new ZAC “Fatagò” Dog Training Area in Cirò Marina, in the province of Crotone; with its 20 hectares it is one of the largest in Calabria.
A warm sunny day, a wonderful landscape that only our hills can offer, letting you admire a view that in the distance declines towards the sea. Gorgeous specimens of hunting dogs running after a partridge. A dog is launched to target the bird. One shot. The prey. The dog pointing the wild bird. This is the scenario within which the inauguration of the "ZAC Fatagò" Dog Training Area was held on Sunday 19 May, established in the territory of the municipality of Cirò Marina by the members of the local municipal section Fidc (Italian Federation of Hunting). The event took place as scheduled, during which a “San Umberto” dog trial was held with the killing of the wild, valid for the provincial selection. About twenty hectares of land, rented by the section of Cirò Marina, in the “Fatagò” area, which throughout the morning have become a reference point for hunters and pointe dogs who are committed to winning the opportunity to participate in the National phase. In fact, the title won was valid for the provincial phase. Judge of the event, coming from Corigliano, was Mario Conforti, recognized at national level and selector at world level.
The Zac Fatagò, created with the synergistic collaboration of ATC KR1, chaired by Giuseppe Sicilia, is the largest in the province and one of the largest in the region, an area which, in addition to being set up for dog training, is also used for killing. The Zac di Cirò Marina, which was authorized by the province of Crotone, present at the event with the councilor Domenico Spataro, is also open to all fans of this discipline and to the world of hunters in general. Of course, you have to be in good standing with the firearms permit.
About 15 founding members of this Zac, all from Cirò Marina, Savelli, Calopezzati, led by the president, Raffaele Vulcano, secretary, Ugo Ferraro. The Zac will be open from 1 September of each year to the following 30 June with the possibility of shooting, while in the months of July and August only for dog training without shooting., every Monday and Friday, it will be closed because the hunting silence is in force, as per national regulation.
A great opportunity for the territory, which, in this particular sector, will be able to create a further segment of territorial, cultural and economic promotion more generally, as, certainly, as confirmed by the president himself, Vulcano, will attract many fans of this discipline to our territory who will only be able to create further synergies. Present, during the award ceremony which ended with the usual rich and traditional buffet and with the delivery of the prizes, also the managing director, Vincenzo Salerno, for the municipal administration of Cirò Marina.
Definitely an important result for the members, said the president Vulcano, which should be supported perhaps more "effectively" by all fans of the hunting world and beyond. These are the winners, Absolute category: 1) Aloisio Cataldo Pasquale with the setter “Kira”; 2) Aloisio Giuseppe with the “White” setter; on equal merit in third place but with priority to the youngest we find Parrilla Gabriele with the pointer "Teti" and Vulcano Raffaele with the Breton "Diana"; 5) Chiarello Salvatore with the Breton “Aris”; Veterans category: 1) De Leo Gaetano with the setter "Zara"; 2) Zampino Francesco with the setter "Leone"; Juniores category: 1) Gagliardi Cataldo with the pointer "Cheri".
