The text in detail
Federcaccia Campania expresses appreciation for the choices made by the Region regarding the text of Hunting Calendar approved by the GR in the session of 31 July, choices in line with what we supported, not from today, for a text that could meet the expectations of the world we represent. Five days in pre-opening for corvids and wood pigeons; the general opening of hunting for most species on the third Sunday of September, as provided for by Law 157/92; the harvesting of wild boar from 2 October to 30 January, extending the hunt by a month, as amended by the current legislation; hunting of woodcock, snipe, whip and a good group of aquatic species closes on January 30th; all this can only receive our consent and the appreciation of the hunters of Campania.
Pre-nuptial migration
However, as we have repeatedly requested, we would have hoped that there would have been the same temporal opening for turdids too, closing their hunting on January 30th and not on the 20th, as established by the approved calendar text, either because studies and research on this group of birds amply demonstrates how the pre-nuptial migration of these species begins in the month of February, partly to avoid creating differentiations in the collection of the same species, given that most Italian regions have decided to close them on January 30th.
Aquatic species
At the same time, we would have hoped and hoped that the approved text of the calendar would also include the harvesting of species such as the turtle dove and the pochard, given that the relevant national action plans are in force for these species. Furthermore, we did not like the choice, in our opinion unjustified, for which the Region intended to differentiate the sampling period for aquatic species (for some the closure is January 20th, for others on the 30th) given that they all live and frequent the same areas. Federcaccia Campania realizes that politics is the art of reconciling the different interests of the various stakeholders, for which it appreciates a good part of the choices made by the Region, with the hope that they represent the viaticum for the beginning of a profitable path and active collaboration and cooperation aimed at providing increasingly comprehensive answers.
