"For this it is necessary to activate an inter-institutional synergy to neutralize the effects of the unfortunate decision taken by the Government to dissolve the Provincial Police and to join the agents to the municipal police". This was stated in a note by Francesco Antonio Greco, Provincial President of Federcaccia Cosenza.
“Mario Oliverio had the merit of establishing the Provincial Police during his experience in Piazza XV Marzo. Now, as governor of Calabria, he has the opportunity not to interrupt this happy experience and to put this staff at the service of the many surveillance activities that our region needs. It has the necessary professionalism and means to carry out civil protection tasks and safeguard the regional institutional and naturalistic heritage.
Our hope - added Greco - is that the specific skills acquired by provincial police officers over many years of service should not be lost. And this is why we appeal to President Oliverio: we ask him to work so that this body merges into a regional police with environmental surveillance tasks, to combat illegal spills in the waters of rivers and other waterways, to control fire, of reporting illegal landfills ".
