The press office of regional sections of Umbria and Lazio of the Federcaccia has published a note on behalf of the federations of Central Italy. After noting that there must always be a confrontation for good cultural growth, the hunting association underlined that hatred and prejudice towards honest and clean citizens requires a prompt response. It was not digested position taken by the ENPA, the animal rights organization that even asked the Minister of the Interior, Angelino Alfano, to close the hunt in Umbria, Marche, Lazio and Abruzzo after the latest earthquakes.
This behavior has been bluntly termed one "Anti-hunt looting". The reasons of the ENPA immediately appeared unconvincing, in particular the obstruction of traffic by hunters' cars and the rescuers who would be in danger as the target of the rifles. According to Federcaccia, therefore, any excuse is good to stop hunting, a legal, healthy, open-air activity capable of keeping the territory under control.
The press release was made public to explain to ENPA that most of the territories hit by the earthquake are part of protected areas and already closed to hunting, without forgetting that in communities affected by the earthquake there is at least one hunter in each family and forbidding him his passion would be a further mockery. Hunting also brings with it an important economic inducement for bars, restaurants and distributors. Finally, the reference to the target rescuers of the rifles prompted the association to evaluate one class action against ENPA, given that the insinuation is considered ridiculous and defamatory.
