Federcaccia, satisfaction for the scientific work of the Migratory Birdlife Office in support of the Regions affected by environmental appeals.
The Italian Federation of Hunting Hunting expresses satisfaction for the work carried out by the migratory avifauna office in supporting the Regions with scientific justifications that have made it possible to justify the deviation of the indications of the anti-hunts and which have been recognized by the tar of Liguria and Calabria in the recent orders issued.
The Liguria TAR rejects the appeal requesting an adjustment to the Ispra opinion for the closure of the turdidae and the woodcock on January 10 and December 31 respectively; the possibility for Ligurian hunters to hunt these species is therefore maintained until January 20th. Unfortunately, the region did not want to accept the request to extend the song thrush until January 31, even though there were regional data to support it. In any case, we hope that this victory will allow this species to be brought back to the end of the season in the future.
The Regional Administrative Court of Calabria rejects the request for suspension regarding the closures of woodcock and song thrush established by the region respectively on 20 and 31 January, also motivated thanks to the data provided by the migratory birds office. Also in this case the applicants asked for closure on 31 December for woodcock and 10 January for song thrush.
The Tar Calabria instead welcomes the suspension for the closure of the quail hunt which was established for December 16 instead of October 31. The migratory avifauna office is working to support the region for a new resolution that allows quail hunting until a date after October 31st.
It is therefore confirmed that adherence to the Key Concepts and the Interpretative Guide of the Birds Directive, which allows the national key concept to be overcome in the presence of different regional data, is the correct strategy for the defense of hunting migratory birds; in the same way, the scientific initiatives of the migratory birds office have proved useful in Calabria for the reasons used by the region to depart from the Ispra opinion.
