Federcaccia at a conference in Spoleto, “The survival of hunting passes through the unity of the hunting world”; defend the hunting activity and the cultural heritage of traditions.
Success for the Spoleto conference of the Italian Federation of Hunting, “The survival of hunting passes through the unity of the hunting world”. To evolve, or to perish. That is: what does it really mean to defend the hunting activity and the cultural baggage of traditions, knowledge, values, history of which this art is the bearer? This was, in a nutshell, the core of the issue addressed last Friday in Spoleto by the Federation. Italia della Caccia, with its national president Gian Luca Dall'Olio, its national vice-president Massimo Buconi, doctor Daniel Tramontana of the Fidc National Migratory Birds Office - his speech on the scientific monitoring of some migratory species is particularly interesting and followed. all the regional and provincial cadres of Perugia and Terni. The future of hunting on the discussion table, ideally set up by the Federcaccia of Spoleto in a conference room of the Zengoni restaurant, crowded for the occasion, to say the least.
The worrying situation, also from the demographic point of view, of the Italian hunting world, was well described by the intervention of the national vice president. Massimo Buconi, number two of the main Italian hunting association, told the audience about the worrying, constant decrease in the number of shotguns in Italy and Umbria. In our region, in particular, the number of hunters decreases every year by about 2 thousand units, to the point that today Diana fans who practice hunting are just over 26 thousand against 41 thousand in the early 2000s.
“We have just over half a million left in all of Italy - Buconi said plainly - and, whether we like it or not, it is difficult to believe that less than 1% of the population of a nation can decide independently on any issue. It is necessary to seek alliances, if you really want to defend hunting: alliances with farmers, fishermen, those who love nature and frequent it to walk, collect mushrooms, asparagus or other. And also with those who have a passion for wildlife management even if they are not hunters. Yes, even with the environmentalists, as long as they are really such, that they leave the house to go to the countryside and do not limit themselves to pontificating about nothing from the armchairs of their living rooms in the city. I don't think hunting defends itself by waving the flag of its association, perhaps by shouting slogans en masse against the institutions ”.
Equally clear was the national president Gian Luca Dall'Olio, who spoke of the need, long requested by the entire base of Italian hunters, to go towards the union of hunting associations in a single entity. In a few days now, the National Confederation of Italian hunting associations will come to life, to which Federcaccia, ANUU Migratoristi, Arci Caccia, Enal Caccia and the Game Producers Authority (Eps) have already joined. The Confederation, of course, is still open to the entry of all those who want to be part of a single, great voice of hunters, like all other European and non-European nations.
