The prestigious recognition already given by Rigoni Stern, Montanelli, Coppi and Vigna was given to the Ligurian entrepreneur in Rome during the National Assembly of the Italian Federation of Hunting. A thunderous applause rang out between the walls of the Coni rooms which hosted the summer session of the National Assembly of the Italian Hunting Federation last Saturday, July 13, when the Cavaliere del Lavoro Carlo Carli, a well-known Ligurian entrepreneur in the food sector, was called to withdraw from the hands of the national president Gian Luca Dall'Olio the honor of Gentiluomo Cacciatore 2013.
Excited and moved, Cavalier Carli thanked him for the honor granted him, recalling how at 95 he still dedicates himself to hunting, a passion that has accompanied him throughout his life and that he was able to reconcile, as the motivation for the award states, with his commitments and work successes and family life. With a few but heartfelt words he underlined his connection to the mountains, for a long time traveled alongside the dogs, other of his life companions, concluding that "the best memories for me are those related to the white and the mountains".
This is the reason for the award:
"Born in Oneglia, now Imperia, in 1918, Cavaliere del Lavoro Carlo Carli divided his life between the family oil company, which he still presides over, running it with his son and grandchildren, and hunting, to which he has always dedicated himself at the end of the Second World War, in which he took part, being awarded the 'War Merit Cross' and the 'Silver Medal of the Federation of Volunteers for Freedom' for distinguishing himself in partisan formations, with the only family vehicles has rebuilt the factory destroyed by the war, making his company one of the best known in the sector in Italy and abroad. Passionate about hunting with pointing dogs, of which he sees the best expression in the English breeds, he has always practiced mountain hunting, first in the valleys of the Cuneo area and later, around the seventies, as a dealer in one of the most beautiful areas of hunting in the Ligurian Alps, Le Navette.
His search for typical mountain game has also led him abroad, especially in Swedish Lapland, never discouraged by the advancing years in his predilection for real hunting, limiting the outings in private farms in the plains to the need to start at activity the younger specimens. Over the years, awareness and attention to the conservation of habitats and wild animals have grown in him, applying in a natural way those principles of sustainable hunting and respect for the environment and fauna that distinguish every true hunter and that the Federation Italiana della Caccia embodies and promotes. Always sensitive to the needs and requests that the Imperia Federcaccia and the hunting world in general have submitted to him over the years, he has always satisfied them with simplicity and generosity.
Example to follow for the passion and willingness to promote and support the canine and hunting initiatives of his land and for having been able to reconcile the dedication to work and family with a love for hunting so strong that it still carries it throughout his long life. today to undergo efforts that many younger people shy away from, not for the game bag, but for the emotions that arise from listening to the song of the rinds or the sudden whirring of the mountain rooster ”.
The "Gentiluomo Cacciatore" is a recognition that the Italian Federation of Hunting has established to give credit to personalities who have distinguished themselves in their professional and sporting life, reaching levels of notoriety and integrity and contributing to the affirmation and elevation of the principles of hunting ethics.
