Federcaccia Salerno and the interested categories take sides against the establishment of the Parco delle Sughere in the area adjacent to the more famous Cilento National Park.
The vice president of Federcaccia Salerno, Gerardo Cernicchiaro, in a meeting at the Municipality of Vibonati with the mayor, Massimo Marcheggiani and some councilors and councilors, announced that Federcaccia will appeal to the TAR against the establishment of the Parco delle Sughere. In support of Federcaccia Salerno's initiative, local hunters, some landowners and traders who would be penalized with the establishment of the Park are lined up.
Although the municipalities of Vibonati and Ispani have proved no longer interested in the establishment of the Park, the Campania Region has also decided to continue on the road towards the establishment of the same therefore Federcaccia has decided to appeal to the TAR.
The president of Federcaccia Salerno, Luigi Spera, explained during the meeting "Hunting activity in the Campania Region and in the province of Salerno in particular is already heavily penalized due to the large presence of protected areas that reach almost 80% of the agro-forestry-pastoral territory, a percentage more than doubled compared to that envisaged by the laws in force ".
Continuing, Spera states, "Yet another park in the province of Salerno will cause further difficulties to all those forms of human development that start from agriculture and the environment to end up with construction, trade and the exploitation of primary resources ".
Finally affirms the president of Federcaccia Salerno, "The hunter is a sentinel of biodiversity and cannot be considered an enemy to be kept away. Putting restrictions on an already protected area, being an area contiguous to the Cilento park, transforming it into an urban park, will damage the many hunters who frequent it and will lead them not to be able to exercise their passion in a vast area where migratory fauna transits and where the wild boar is found numerous ".
During the meeting, the municipal councilor Manuel Borrelli promoted a series of ecological days in the provincial territory for environmental awareness, during which the participants will carry out the cleaning of the paths, the collection of waste and the children of the local schools will carry out educational activities; the initiative was conceived in collaboration with the Municipality of Vibonati, the Federcaccia Salerno and the environmental association Ekoclub.
